TNS #783 - Graved (Part I)

Graved is a megawad with 6 authors that has been in development for 5 years. With minimal custom texture usage, the mapset is quite old school in both aesthetics and monster usage and features fairly chill gameplay. If you need a wad to take a break from it all and spend the evening Dooming like back in the good ol' days, this should do the trick!

The second half of the wad stays true to its name with fairly short maps but this time focusing more on making a short work of whoever dares to wake up the maps' monster population from its slumber. With a few maps towards the end going all the way in terms of trying to make your day less pleasant, you can forget everything you know about the refined French manners and get ready to do anything you can to try to surive!

As the name might suggest, this hot off the presses megawad indeed contains fairly short maps and is part of a series of speedmap wads by the French Doom Community. Regrettably, so far we've not played any of the previous iterations but this edition might be the best one yet and what the maps lack in length they make up in gameplay scenarios that should keep us on our toes!

The second half of Utakata leads us deeper into Japanese environments featuring torii gates, a white palace complex and even authentic Japanese classrooms, all combined with Doom 1 homages, city maps, Silent Hill 3 references, a winter map and more. If there's one thing Japan does well it's odd combinations that somehow end up working so just be ready for anything and everything and come enjoy the wild ride!

After a full month of monster-filled maps it's time for a bit more relaxing experience. Utakata is a fresh new megawad by SYU, a Japanese Doomer, containing a spectrum of various themes and environments. Quite an unique experience, the mapset also features a taste of Japanese culture and something not seen before - the switches are so clean that they shine!
