What does the middle part of TNT 2 bring? Besides the expected increase in difficulty and map complexity we get no fewer than 6 secret maps, including the appearance of classical architecture in MAP31, quite the rarity in Doom. Additionally, MAP34-MAP36 are all-new, apart from MAP26 the only maps not seen before the recent RC1 release so if newer means better we might just have the best part of the wad ahead of us!

If the good news have not yet reached your ears let this post be a herald for you: after many years of waiting, TNT 2 has received a release candidate and is thus (presumably? hopefully? finally?) nearing its completion. Starting in 2009, before TNS was even a gleam in anyone's eye, it has undergone quite the turbulent development but all that is in the past now and the project is ready to be presented in its full 36-map form. It's been a long wait, let's see what this wad's got in store!

With TNS focusing on the latest and greatest in the wad releases there hasn't been much opportunity for a true blast from the past in the last few years. But today is different - The Darkening, harkening back all the way to early 1998 is far from outdated (even promising "stunning new graphics"!!1) and used to be a PAIN server favorite years ago. It has since faded back to relative obscurity but we're bringing it back tonight!

SSS01: Lunar Lights is the first entry in the Synami Speedmapping Sessions series, hosted on Doomworld. This compilation's theme was to create maps under the night sky, while using textures within the project's defined custom resource pack.

Maps are loosely ordered on an ascending difficulty curve, while also being split up into individual episodes to reduce the likeliness of burnout.

We will be playing Part I this week.

After a quick and easy run through the first half of the wad, Avulsion largely keeps the monster counts the same but there definitely is more focus on thoughtful enemy placement and enemy choice to make the player's life... more exciting. Whether that's going to slow us down remains to be seen but as far as strolls in the park go, this might be one to remember!
