Coming with a fitting name for this collection of 23 maps that have been dusted off and cleaned up after sitting on the author's hard drive for a while, Cobweb features fairly low-monster count maps with straightforward progressions, ideal for zipping through at a breakneck pace. To slow us down a bit, pistol starts suit the wad quite well and if not enough necks get broken by the few curveballs that'll get thrown our way, there's always the option to use more difficult settings than usual after the first rota!

After a wild ride in MAP32, we're back to pretty smooth sailing for the rest of the wad, however, not without copious chaingunners and archviles to liven things up. Uniquely, playing the mapset feels a little bit like rediscovering a lost proto-Plutonia from the historical archives but it certainly has enough personality to also stand on its own!

Veiled behind mostly mild monster counts, sounds and HUD straight out of the '90s and an overall old school look, this freshly released megawad packs quite a punch with some treacherous traps and, living up to its name, abundant chaingunners often placed in... quite inconvenient locations. To top it off, MAP32 pays homage to the (in)famous Okuplok's slaughter map but thankfully one that is much shorter and without platforming. If that description didn't scare you off, we will see you there for a little bit of old-fashioned challenge.

Speaking of MAP32, here's an advice as a small reward for the few of you that actually read these descriptions in the first place: don't take any teleporters after the first one. You'll thank me later.

This half-megawad criminally escaped our attention back in late 2022 among all the Doom community activity. Using resources from Ancient Aliens, this wad has it all - vibrantly colorful environments, visually pleasing architecture to go with them and difficulty and monster counts in just the right zone to make for an engaging combat without being overly challenging. It's been 3 years so let's finally correct this oversight!

TNS #756 - SQUIRM (Part II)

It’s time to wrap up all this wriggling with Part II of SQUIRM, bringing in some longer maps, the kind you really have to work through, plus another gem from the author: "I pre‑emptively apologize for the last four maps. I lost my ability to make sane decisions."

A feeling fully validated by paymentplan’s Doomworld remark about ‘a multiple‑hour brain‑wrenching Map 24’… the sort of experience that leaves you sore, exhausted, and wondering why you ever thought you could handle that much at once. It should keep the admins busy on their soundboard, mostly because they’ll be dead.

And if things get truly out of hand, we may even catch a rare sighting of our famous TNS Trudy bot slipping in from time to time… just maybe.
