ZDaemon Basics : What is ZDaemon?
ZDaemon is a client / server port for DooM based off Zdoom 1.23 which enables users to play classic DooM over the internet. ZDaemon started back in 2000 by Sean 'Nightfang' White and has progressed substantially throughout the years. In early 2003 Nightfang left the team and his successor, Raider, continued leading the project form v1.0.
ZDaemon consists of four main components:
 ZDaemon
Launcher (Zlauncher.exe)

Everything that happens ingame gets sent to the server which sends this information to the other players. The server has the ability to change game settings such as 'jump enabled' so there can be a wide variety of Oldskool and Newskool servers.
